The GT40P is an anomoly, being a designation used for both production and aftermarket performance heads. The only difference in later (post '77) 302 and 351W heads are the bolt holes. The 351 uses 1/2" head bolts, where 302 uses 7/16. A 1/2" reamer will make a 302 head a 351 head...

I don't know if you put this head in your book but, my favorite cast iron regular production casting is a E6SE head used in 1986 only. I use them for all the "O.E.M. production cast Iron head, flat top piston", short track entry level, 2 barrel carb engines.

A quick google shows they flow about the same as a 60's 289/302 head. Probably no advantage over your 72 heads. I had a set of aluminum heads on a 5.0L once, brand unknown, but I bought plugs for what type of car it was and they were the short threads. I ordered them for a Cobra 5.0L motor, and I got the deeper threaded ones.
